Google Ranking Algorithm Survey

Google Ranking Algorithm Survey

As of the end of June, I have taken a break from producing artwork for Black Rainbow and started teaching myself some basic Internet marketing techniques. All of what I have learned has come from articles from Google. It has been quite an exhaustive experience so far but also very interesting. My head is spinning from all the different tasks that need to be done and the sheer learning curve has left me overwhelmed. But being that it is an important means of exposing Black Rainbow, I took on the self learning exercise in an aggressive manner.

Here is a short list of things I have learned so far. I will continue to communicate my knowledge in this area as it develops.

  1. The world of internet marketing can be quite murky. Be media saavy with what you are reading. I found that there is a lot of questionable information posted online. There is a vast amount available for viewing right at your fingertips so it can prove difficult to decipher what is good and solid information. However, after a meeting with Ryan from 1024 Media, I learned of SEOMoz.org. Ryan suggested SEOMoz as a place to learn more about Internet Marketing. It looks credible and well maintained. Check their Internet Marketing Handbook here. Also, Google has an Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Guide available in PDF.

  2. Participate in forum discussions giving meaningful comments and leaving a banner or link back to your comic. People will take notice of someone speaking intelligently and profesionally and may seek out your website to learn more about you. I am suggesting this though I have yet to really execute it due to time constraints.

  3. Submit your comic and articles to social bookmark/media sites such as StumbleUpon, Digg, Connontea, Mixx, Twitter, and Facebook. I use an Onlywire Auto Submit plug in from Lionstarrs that automatically submits new posts to social media sites I manually set up accounts with. If you have the time, drop into those accounts and interact as much as you can with other users. Interact and socialize to build networks and relationships. This can increase the chance of people linking to your website. Check out this article from CopyBlogger on how we to have great content and an extensive network of allies in order to be a successful blogger on the Internet. This is also a time consuming task and can prove very difficult under tight time constraints.

  4. Submit useful articles from your blog to article directories such as Ezine Articles or GoArticles. Article directories allow the writer to link back to their original websites in the author resource box located at the bottom of the article. Articles from these directories publish quickly and rank highly in Google. Once they are approved as articles, submit them to social media websites through your Onlywire account and ping them with an application such as Ping.fm.
