Struggling Artists should listen to Dead Prez

Whether one is into hip hop or not, I really think web comic artists or any artist in the struggle should expose themselves to the music of Dead Prez which is comprised of rappers M-1 and Stickman. While this rap duo offers extremist Black Panther militant ideas that may rustle mainstream listeners, Dead Prez often encourages grassroots social action, community integration, financial independence, and general positive human conduct. Recurrent ideas of community grown businesses and artistic integrity are often echoed throughout numerous songs. Below is a verse from Stickman that can serve as a pep talk to any struggling artist. Many of us can identify with troubling periods of self doubt and fatigue. Dead Prez have dropped a gem that can really help us gain some positive perspective for such times.
Excerpt from “Score” by Dead Prez
Life is not about the quickest speed
What you achieve
Come to greed by the grief
And what you get is what you see
In your mind visually
And manifest physically
If you stick to it shit’ll work out terrificly
Take me, everyday my life be hectic and stressful
Never really know if im’a ever be successful
But the best things you get out of life require struggle
If it don’t you gettin hustled homeboy
You gettin hustled
How I see it
Anything you wanna be you can be it
If your mind can preceive it
And your heart really believe it
Than you half way there and all you got to do is do it
And if you give it all you got there ain’t really
Nothin’ to it
